A Message from John

Read more about John Sherman's work.

Your brain is responsible for monitoring bodily activity and for making it available to the mind as neural impulses that can be used to create understandings and actions appropriate to circumstance. In a natural human mind free of the fear of life this beautiful system works well as it presents to you thought-forms that may be helpful to your relationship with your life.

But most of us have never really had the experience of a sane relationship with life with a mind free of fear. Most of us have lived every moment of our lives from minds that are contaminated with fear and anxiety. JustOneLook is the way out of the dark tunnel of the fearful mind.

To participate, you don't need to know how to speak of the looking, or understand how it works, or anything of the kind. The only requirement is that you have tried to look at yourself, that you have begun to see the effects of the looking in your own life, and that you have a desire to let people know about it.

You can do this by posting the link to our website on social sites, for instance. Or by sharing our YouTube videos, our blog posts and podcast episodes everywhere you can. But there are many other ways. You can come up with your own ways. Here's an example:

Report from a Grassroots Member

This last month I started a new playful way to share the looking. In my bag I now keep large format sticky notes, the kind with only a strip of glue on top in eye-catching colors, and a marker pen. When I move around in public space I write down suggestions to look and then stick them inside of train carts, buses, billboards or other places where I find it suitable (my friend and I were thrown out of a bar once for doing it... wrong place! LOL). And I think I have seen it working too! This is also a matter of skill; catching someone's attention and making it seem appealing enough so they actually do it. Haha! I have become the social activist I never dared to be before! (Robert - Stockholm)

Looking at me

Looking inwards has definitely made a huge impact on the way I see the world now. It's been a while since I've posted [in the JustOneLook Forum], mainly because I have been living without the incessant urge to drop in on the forums to try and get some validation for the way I'm supposed to feel. Maybe some of you will relate to this? I used to come on here [ to the forum ] daily, sometimes twice a day, desperately wanting someone else to tell me everything is going to be fine. But now I suppose I've realised everything is and always has been perfectly fine. Those old clouds just take some time to blow away.

So for those who are new to this, I can safely say that the looking worked for me, so I don't see why it shouldn't work for you. It's been just over four years since I first started desperately trying to look for what John was pointing to. It really isn't hard to do it, it might seem that way, but all you need is the intent to [ look at yourself ] and rid yourself of the fear.

I remember when I first posted in the forum and everyone that replied to me congratulated me on finding out the looking at such a young age. I was 24 at the time. So I want to do the same for anyone who is looking here for answers. It has really worked for me! I don't want to describe all the changes but I can safely say that there really doesn't seem to be any problems in my life. I don't worry about the future, and the hugely dysfunctional social angst that was always with me seems to have gone as well. (Jim - England - December 5, 2017)

The Brain, the Mind, and the Fear

"Your brain is responsible for monitoring all bodily activity and for making it available to the mind as neural impulses that can be used by the mind to provide a basis for creating appropriate understandings and actions. Informed by the brain as to the current state of the body, our minds determine from experience what is useful, what is irrelevant, and what needs attention." - John Sherman
