Compassion

I've been feeling a kind of apathy lately, not feeling I'm not doing enough to get the word out to support the looking, this community, humanity etc. Just interesting to notice for now, fear of life, lack of compassion?

Anyway, closer to home, my grand-daughter (15) was telling me a story this morning about a old man in the metro station who is begging and badly crippled and who she always takes the time to talk to and say hello. She told me she said to him "you are my best friend". No words of sympathy, pity just you and me we are friends. His arms slowly and with pain pointed to piece of paper where it was written "merci" as he can't talk. So I know I've helped get the word out there in my own way and that feels good.

Merci, John Carla and all of you. We are in this together.

Marlowe,

I love this story. I keep coming back and reading it. I am also experiencing how the loss of fear allows me to react spontaneously and freshly to situations. Nothing this dramatic for me. I work with kids and find myself wondering how the looking would affect them. They are already fresher and more spontaneous than those of us set in our ways. I think they would (will) guide us to fresh paradigms of human interaction and spontaneity.

Thanks for the post.

My mistake, I meant Maureen!

It's all me, I guess smily

Hi Jackx, I think you mean Maureen, not Marlowe? Nevertheless, I add my enjoyment of your granddaughter's compassion, Maureen.
